Hakuba Snowshoe Tours

Some people do not want to ski or snowboard in the backcountry, but they want to experience the natural mountain environment is the pure beauty of winter - away from artificial ski areas and with the safety of a qualified guide. We offer two flavours of snowshoe touring in Hakuba.

We will customise the tour to meet your needs and can offer either half day or full day adventures. See below for, prices and booking.

Nature Walks

We can take you through a tranquil forested area with a mix of open snow meadows, evergreens and Japanese hardwoods at an elevation of 1600m. Alternatively, there is the chance to wander the range on the eastern side of the valley offering a massive view across the entire range of mountains that stand above the Hakuba. Both these outings are easy on the body and mostly quite relaxing.

Alpine Hiking

For the more energetic we offer unique snowshoe hikes along some of Hakuba’s higher mountain ridges. These hikes take you to a place that you would never otherwise have experienced and are perfect for those that really want to get up there, but do not want to the associated challenges of backcountry skiing. Haw far you want to explore into the depths of the mountains depends on your willingness for adventure and fitness. Short trips are not difficult, however longer excursions require a little effort.
